We went to the Library yesterday. This time we hit the jackpot and found a bunch of awesome books on one isle, including ‘If you Give a Mouse a Cookie’ (one of my favorites!) and ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ (another favorite), and a really cute book called ‘The Brave Little Raccoon’.
Jaycen and Brooke cuddled up in mommy’s and daddy’s bed while mommy read two of their library books…two times each. They loved every minute of it, and so did mommy.
Remember the neat Dinosaur Excavation kit I told you about recently? Well, I hope we can get more of these types of kits from Toys ‘R Us. This was one of the coolest things we’ve ever done with the kids. We all spent an hour (maybe more) chipping away at a block to unearth a three-part replica T-rex skull. It was a nice size, too!
The excitement really kicked in as we started seeing parts of the skull show through the block. Here you can see his teeth and jawbone. The kids went nuts when the teeth started emerging.
We added our own fun to it with some brushes so the kids could really be professional Dinosaur Diggers! The kit came with a neat little hammer and chisel though, and a magnifying glass. Jaycen loved them. He especially didn’t want to stop hammering with the chisel, even when the skull was all cleaned and assembled.
We’re all really proud of the skull. It looks really awesome, and it was a wonderfully memorable family activity. Oh, and the kit came with an information booklet and an actual piece of dinosaur bone, too! How cool is that?
I suppose the kids really think they’re professionals now. They modified their operation game to transplant the pieces on mommy’s old teddy bear after removing them from Hulk. As long as they don’t try to switch mommy’s brain with a chicken’s, everything’s fine. *wink*
