Rainy Days & Family Fun

Brooke made the word ‘zoo’ out of playdoh.

It’s raining again today. It’s been a very rainy week. We keep having to put the Zoo trip off. Poor kiddos! Tomorrow it looks like there are going to be clouds with just a 10% chance of rain…but I think we’re going to have to wait until a sunnier month altogether.

The kids have been keeping themselves plenty busy during the rainy days. For example…

Jaycen found some of Brooke’s Disney Princess stickers and they both proceeded to decorate things. Brooke put them on their tiny wagons and a few on mommy’s hand…Jaycen put them all over his arms and on his forehead.

We were visited by finger friends. I started this creative ‘tradition’ with the kids some years ago by drawing a smiley face on my finger and making it talk. So naturally the kids love doing it too. They drew these faces themselves.

Moments later Brooke ended up with a family of fingers. Her toes joined in the fun, too. I think the pen is out of ink now. *wink*

I’ve been drawing a bit in a new sketchbook that Jared gave me (with a box of new pencils) and of course Brooke has been drawing too. She loves using one of my pencils. She watched me draw and outline a unicorn yesterday, so she gave her first shot at penciling and inking. Of course she drew a unicorn, too. She loves them. Her version had a mommy and baby. She named them in her own letter hand-writing, too…”Kalibl” and “Libo”. I didn’t help with the naming. She surprised me with that.

Of course, what’s a rainy week without daddy time? One of my favorite activities is when the kids grab daddy’s legs when he tries to walk. They’ve done it with me a few times too, but it’s much more fun when daddy does it. *wink*

Almost every night when bedtime rolls around, daddy snuggles into Jaycen’s bed and the kids pounce. Sometimes they play under the bed and jump out at each other. The kids really love it. There’s nothing like ending a day with some laughter.

Tonight we’ll watch the kids’ favorite weekly show—’Star Wars: The Clone Wars’. It’s fun to watch it with them each Friday night with a DiGiorno pizza and some popcorn. We always look forward to it.
